Tanker Access Platforms

Ajax Tanker Access Platforms have been designed to provide a safe working environment for workers who need to gain access to areas at various heights.

The Tanker Truck Access Platforms are supplied with handrails that run from the top fixed step to the last moving step.

Each Unit also has the option of a full safety cage, which is attached to the Step Unit and provides an enclosed working area for maximum safety at height.

Safe Tanker Access Construction

The Fixed Tanker Access Platforms have a robust construction, which is manufactured from mild steel and coated in a hot dipped galvanised. This method completely protects the Unit from any harsh environmental elements, making it suitable for both corrosive and chemical conditions.

The safety cage is also manufactured from mild steel and coated in a hot dipped galvanised method. However, to reduce weight on the larger Step Units, an aluminium safety cage is installed.

Each Fixed Unit has the option of having 2 – 7 steps or treads. The larger the gap, the more steps you will require. In addition, there are various step or tread widths to suit your requirements;

• 800mm
• 1000mm
• 1200mm
• 1500mm

Operation

Once installed, the Fixed Tanker Loading Platform sits in a raised position providing maximum space underneath. In operation, the Step Unit can be horizontally lowered onto the surface below at a controlled speed.

Our step units have a rectilinear motion enabling safe access to a variety of different tanker heights (within a given range) whilst maintaining level treads and equal tread risers giving safe access at all times.

There are two methods of operation available for the Step Units; a manual design and a pneumatic operating design.

Manual Fixed Folding Step Unit

The Manual Step Unit is moved up and down by lifting the side handrails by hand. Once the Unit is in the position it can be locked off with the hydraulic lock, which comes as standard.

• The Hydraulic Locking System can hold the Manual Step Unit in any position above and below the horizontal position. A hydraulic ram is attached to the compression spring of the Step Unit, which locks the unit in place when the operator actuates the hydraulic cylinder.

Pneumatic Fixed Folding Step Unit

The Pneumatic Step Unit has a pneumatic cylinder mounted to each of the two spring boxes for easy operation from the control panel. This operation is ideal for larger Step Units and is recommended for Step Units that are larger than a MK4 (4 step) unit.
